BACKGROUND
I’ve been a professional route setter now for 12 years working in a variety of commercial gyms and setting regularly for competitions and training camps.
I began my career in the UK and after four years, I moved to Paris in France in search of the next challenge.
I worked for several years as Chief Setter at Arkose Massy. Collaborating with a large and diverse team, I strived to develop a strong vision of route setting and to push the boundaries of what was found in a commercial environment. I managed the opening sets of several new walls throughout France and was strongly involved in the development of new route setters.
In 2021, I made the choice to become freelance giving myself the flexibility to travel and experience route setting within different contexts. This allowed me the perspective and background to build a programme to introduce a development pathway within route setting. I have spent time constructing a variety of workshops and training opportunities for both commercial and competition route setters.
I currently spend most of my time delivering these workshops to commercial gyms and National Climbing Federations looking to develop their route setters and national programmes.
I continue to work within the competition scene, setting Competitions at a variety of Levels as Chief or Team member and National Team training camps and simulations.
